GTA 5 will be released on March 15, 2022 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Saves are transferrable, but not from PC to consoles. That really annoys fans.

New York – Why release a new game when you can still have a lot of success with the old one nine years after its release? Rockstar Games thinks so too and is now releasing GTA 5 for the next generation of consoles. GTA 5 will be released for the PS5 and Xbox Series X on March 15, 2022. GTA 5 for the PS5: save save – but not for PC players

What’s the matter? GTA 5 will appear for the third time on March 15th – at least for console players. When it was released in 2013, Grand Theft Auto V was released for PlayStation 3, only to be released for PS4 shortly thereafter. Back then, the upgrade for the new generation of consoles was free, this time it will probably not be the case. According to leaks, the GTA 5 PS5 upgrade will cost an additional fee, even if the price is not too high at first. Players can transfer their GTA 5 saves from PS4 and Xbox One to PS5 and Xbox Series X. But PC gamers are left in the dark.

Because PC gamers will not be able to transfer their saves from GTA 5 and GTA Online to the next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft.

That’s why PC gamers want to switch to consoles: But some fans may wonder why PC gamers would even want to switch to GTA 5 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. After all, polished graphics, fast loading times and the other technical advantages of the next-gen upgrade have been on the PC for some time. But that’s not the problem.

Many PC gamers would prefer to play GTA 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X in the future because they would be spared from cheaters there – or more spared. Because both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X have very high security measures to prevent cheating. On the PC, gamers* have been struggling with cheater problems for years, which the developer from New York doesn’t really do anything about. The IP addresses can be easily viewed through a mod menu.

GTA 5 for PS5 and Xbox Series X: Transferring saves from the PC – players look down the drain

Why can’t the save be transferred? The developer from New York has not provided an official justification. The last post on the Rockstar Newswire, on the other hand, only describes how fans can transfer their saves from the old consoles to the new ones. PC fans were simply left out. Is it intentional or just forgotten? However, some fans have already found reasons why Rockstar Games does not or should not allow the transfer from PC to next-gen consoles:

  • cocochris0 writes: « Think of all the modified accounts they’re using [Rockstar, Anm. d. Red.] might not want to get busy.«
  • Papa Metal Agrees: « With all the modders and modded accounts on PC, it makes sense not to allow transfers from PC.«
  • Brandon says: « PC players (cheaters) would have an unfair advantage over most console players as they already have top-notch gear etc.”

Other fans are quite annoyed that they cannot transfer their GTA 5 saves from PC to PS5 or Xbox Series X, after all some just want to escape from the cheaters and modders mentioned. In addition, it would be easy for the developer from New York to restrict the transfer of GTA 5 saves from PC to console so that not everything is transferred.

This also happens when transferring Xbox One saves to PS5 and PS4 to Xbox Series X. If saves are transferred across platforms, players will lose all their GTA$. This would probably also be a way for PC saves to eliminate unfair advantages.

how do you see it? Would you like to transfer your GTA 5 saves from the PC or are you glad that this is not possible?
